Una versión todavía posterior al 600L fue el 600R, fabricado por en Argentina para el amplio mercado de Sudamerica. El 600R estaba desprovisto de tapacubos y en su lugar las llantas presentaban unos agujeros para refrigerar los frenos. La carrocería tampoco llevaba molduras y en lugar de la típica bigotera de los Seat y los Fiat mas clásicos, éste llevaba una rejilla y una defensa por encima del parachoques que intentaba proteger los intermitentes. La versión R estaba propulsada por un motor de 797cc, lo que le permitía llegar a los 36 caballos de potencia.
En Argentina, el 600 fue el coche mas popular del pais entre los años 1959 y 1971, en los que se fabricaron cerca de 167.000 unidades.

The fiat 600R was a product of the Argentinian factory desgined for the important SouthAmerican market. Devoid of wheel hubcaps and bright body mouldings, adummy air-intake adorned the front panel and a fender attached to the bumpers provided protection to the lights and lower bodywork. The R version received a power advantage over previous 600S, the 767cc engine was extended to 797cc with an output of 36bhp to match. The Argentinian 600 emerged as the country's most popular car and in the years between 1959 and 1971 nearly 167.000 units were delivered. The contract to assemble cars in Argentine came into effect during 1960 and lasted well into the '70s.
